If I am not mistaken this festival is run at the site which was originally used for the first Berkshire mountains Bluegrass Festival in 1976, which of course was put together by Nancy Talbot and her cohorts from the gone-but-not-forgotten “Boston Area Friends of Bluegrass and Old-Time Country Music.”
In any case, kudoes to these fine folks.
Congratulations! Grey Fox has always been “event of the year” for us!
Congratulations! What an awesome occasion for the festival, very much deserved.

Kerney and I are thrilled that Grey Fox has finally received this award, long overdue. The amount of work and love that have always gone into this event has always amazed us. Congratulations to all!
We were very sorry we were not able to be there this past July and we hope to be back next summer. We really missed seeing everyone!

Ah heck, you all had my vote for years! Well deserved. See you in 2010.
To the person who was referring to us being at the same site as the Berkshire Mountain Bluegrass Festival: Yes, this is the same festival, but in 2008 we moved to a new place after the farm in Ancramdale was sold. It is actually for 2008 that we were honored. All IBMA awards given out each year are for the “BEST” of the previous year. The Awards Show this year was hosted by Hot Rize and Kathy Mattea. Check out ALL the results at http://www.ibma.org. And take care. Mary
Yeehaw! Greyfox is good and deserves this pat on the back. You’ve overcome adversity; from having to change your name, move to a new site and cope with numerous struggles … the festival community has held together, stronger with each year. The variety of bands, programming for all ages, workshops, good food, support services and friendly staff have helped make this festival remarkable. Your hard work has been done for the love of these people and their music. The award for your stellar shows and cracker-jack crew is well worthy of “Best Bluegrass Event” every year.
It was such a thrill to be there for World of Bluegrass week in Nashville … Getting the award for Event of the year for one of the most difficult years ever is extra special. It is really our festivarians that makes Grey Fox always the event of the year in my book … the Staff, volunteers, musicians and fans alike! Thanks to all of you!!!
Well deserved!! Now others in the bluegrass world will know what we knew all along.
Congratulations.
Thank you to all who put their heart and soul into this fabulous event. You have been a wonder addition to our community. WE are GREATFUL to each and everyone of you and pray you are here to stay.
Chris, it is so nice to hear you say that. I have been going to the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival since 1988. I can tell you that the people who run the show are the most caring, thoughtful folks you could ever want in your community. They truly do put heart and soul into the event and work very hard to leave a positive mark on everyone’s lives.
I couldn’t be happier. Congratulations!

We all knew it was the best event of the year since 1983. Can’t figure out why it took so long for others to notice. Congratulations on the award. Mary and Mary you’re the best. Nice to see ya’ll at BlackPot.
Yes Congrats and thanx for a great night at IBMA, see you soon!!!!!

When we won Festival of the year, I wondered why we won for 2008 and not the previous years at the Rothvoss farm, where the location and views were much more spectacular. I realised that entertainment has always made Grey Fox popular. It was the fact that we picked up the festival and moved it 50 miles, developed the new site and had the Event of the Year. Without all the people that came tgether and helped in that herculean endeavour, this would not have been possible. From the wonderful volunteers that helped us move and develop the walsh farm, to the local town effort, all true believers. It is an honor to work for Mary Doub and the fantastic team that makes this Grey Fox possible.
Thank You All.
