Buddy Merriam Returns to Grey Fox

Grey Fox welcomes Buddy Merriam & Back Roads to the 2010 lineup. A mighty fine Monroe-style mandolin player, Buddy was struck by lightning on the Rothvoss Farm in 1976 at the first Berkshire Mtn BG Festival. When Buddy regained consciousness, Bill Monroe was there hovering over him! Imagine that! Well, that moment changed Buddy’s life. He became friends with Monroe and learned his technique directly from him. Back Roads—now celebrating its 30th anniversary—will be at Grey Fox on Thursday, July 15. You can also listen to Buddy’s radio show, Bluegrass Time, every Wed from 6-8 pm on WUSB-fm.  Check out more of the Grey Fox lineup!

Hillbenders added to Grey Fox lineup

Winners of the Telluride Band Contest, the Hillbenders will perform at Grey Fox on Thursday & Friday, July 16 & 17. These five diversely influenced musicians from all over the country now make Springfield, MO their home, where they all write and arrange their unique brand of bluegrass music. Slightly reminiscent of New Grass Revival, yet extremely original, we feel Grey Fox fans will love the Hillbenders’ edgy songs and dynamic stage presence. Click to watch their videos. But, be forewarned, you really have to SEE the Hillbenders to get the whole picture, so catch their shows at Grey Fox this summer. Check out the Grey Fox lineup!

We are looking for 70 positive stories: 5 from each of 14 different categories. Stories may be submitted by fans, artists, staff or anyone who has had an extraordinary experience at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival or any of the festivals at the Rothvoss Farm going back to 1976.

“Your positive story” could range from your most memorable musical experience to surviving our famous July weather to meeting the love of your life.

Here are the categories:

2. Love and Marriage
3. Bluegrass Academy for Kids
4. Camping
5. Food / Cooking / Recipes
6. Amazing Weather
7. Musical Memories
8. Grey Fox Artists
9. How Grey Fox Has Changed My Life
10. Behind the Scenes

Plus these “appendix” type categories
12. Packing for Grey Fox (What to Bring/What to Leave at Home)

With just 5 stories in each category, these spots will go fast. We would love to hear from you. So, please click on the link at the bottom of this page and submit your story!

And if you know someone who has a story to tell, please put them in touch with us.
