2009 IBMA BLUEGRASS EVENT OF THE YEAR
I can't say I'm one of the 20+ year faithful, but I HAVE been there on at
least one occasion, and I'll give you my worst and best memories:
Worst: Climbing that *#@&*# hill!
Best: Sitting on the stage hill on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, hearing a bit of heaven whilst trying to find it in the sky!

On October 2, 2009, Grey Fox was named
Bluegrass Event of the Year at the International Bluegrass Music Association's annual World of Bluegrass convention in Nashville, TN. Grey Fox has been nominated for the coveted award five times—more than any other event. Accepting the award, Grey Fox producer, Mary Tyler Doub, thanked the thousands of bluegrass artists, fans, industry professionals and volunteers who together make up the heart and soul of Grey Fox. She also acknowledged the tireless work of festival promoters around the world who put work to present and promote bluegrass music.
Grey Fox is the subject of the full-length film entitled Bluegrass Journey: A Documentary of Contemporary Bluegrass Music, which has aired on more than one hundred public television stations nationwide and at film festivals in the U.S. and abroad. The award-winning film, produced by Ruth Oxenberg and Rob Schumer, chronicles the contemporary bluegrass music scene and features performances by Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, The Del McCoury Band, Tim O'Brien and a host of other bluegrass luminaries.
In 2006, BBC World kicked off its 13-part series, Destination Music, with an episode filmed at Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. The series featured major music festivals in the Americas, Europe, Asia and Africa. In the Grey Fox episode, Sam Bush, Pete Wernick, the Wilders and other bluegrass greats are interviewed and filmed while performing at Grey Fox in 2005.
Important Note #1:
We sell 4000 camping tickets and almost always sell out! Day Tickets are also limited. This is to ensure that the festival grounds and ampitheatre do not get too crowded. So, buy your tickets early and don't miss out.
Important Note #2:
We do not have many rules — just enough to ensure a safe and pleasant weekend for all. Please read our Camper’s Creed, as well as our policies on Main Stage Seating, Pets and Smoking.
