Jordan Tice & Horse County
“Jordan Tice is one of the new guys on the New Acoustic block
and the neighborhood looks and sounds great”
— Bluegrass Unlimited
Jordan Tice is a versatile guitarist and prolific composer of some of the most thoughtful and well-crafted tunes of his generation. He grew up playing bluegrass and fiddle tunes with his family in MD and studied jazz and classical guitar, earning a degree in music composition from Towson University. Jordan’s string of heralded instrumental releases feature him as a gifted composer capable of leading veteran musicians such as Noam Pikelny, Casey Driessen, Andy Hall, and Mark Schatz into uncharted waters.
His record “Corbett Chrisman Tice” with hammered dulcimer player, Simon Chrisman, and banjoist, Wes Corbett, was hailed as one of the top 5 records of the year by the Chicago Tribune in 2008. His mandolin playing skills contributed to the acclaim of the Dave Rawlings Machine record “Nashville Obsolete.” In 2015 he toured with The Duhks and worked with actor/comedian Steve Martin on a re-imagining of the Shakespeare play “As You Like It” for New York City’s “Shakespeare in the Park.”
“Indian Ate the Woodchuck”
On their debut 2014 recording “You Got This,” he collaborated with fiddler Brittany Haas (Crooked Still, Dave Rawlings Machine) and bassist Paul Kowert (Punch Brothers, Dave Rawlings Machine) in the trio Haas Kowert Tice. Jordan Tice & Horse County is Jordan on guitar and vocals, Brittany Haas on fiddle, Mike Witcher on Dobro, Dominick Leslie on mandolin, and Paul Kowert on bass.
