The Lonely Heartstring Band
”These guys are as close to the Real Deal as it is possible to get.
They made my hair stand on end.”
~Darol Anger, fiddler for Republic of Strings,
Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music
The Lonely Heartstring Band is now the hottest bluegrass group going in New England. Born as a throw-together wedding band hired to play only Beatles music on traditional bluegrass instruments, they decided to stick together and quickly began exploring new sounds. But that initial inspiration by the Beatles was indicative of the group’s love of great songs, brilliant arrangements and music that just plain feels good. And so, the Berklee College of Music has inspired yet another highly original ensemble.
Combining soulful instrumental virtuosity with soaring three-part harmonies, their growing repertoire of original songs and compositions showcases not only their considerable talents, but a dedication to meaningful roots-conscious music. This multi-talented group of musicians, in classic bluegrass quintet formation, always delivers a dynamic, diverse, and heartfelt performance. As banjo maverick Tony Trischka says, the ensemble is “always far greater than the sum of its parts.”
Their reverence for the past generates a new push into the future. With a 2015 IBMA Momentum Award and the imminent release of their debut full-length album Deep Waters on the legendary Rounder Records label, they are at the front edge of a significant trajectory for stardom.
Long As I Can See The Light:
The talented members are George Clements (guitar/vocals); Patrick McGonigle (fiddle/vocals); Gabe Hirshfeld (banjo); Matt Witler (mandolin); and Charles Clements (bass/vocals). We are looking forward to The Lonely Heartstring Band bringing Grey Fox audiences to their feet again this summer.
