2009 Scholarship Winner: Etienne Cremieux

Congratulations to Etienne Cremieux who has been selected as the 2009 recipient of the Grey Fox Bill Vernon Memorial Scholarship. A high school senior and gifted fiddler from Brookline, MA, Etienne will be attending Berklee College of Music in the fall. His band, Red Hot Black Top was also invited to play at Grey Fox at the new showcase sessions at the Masters Stage. Greetings from all of us at Grey Fox. Many of you have been asking what the layout will be like at Grey Fox this year. We are making many changes, big and small, that we feel are very positive. We want to thank you for your suggestions, beginning with the “Grey Fox Community Meeting” on Sunday last year and throughout the year. We hope folks stopped by at our table at the Joe Val Bluegrass Festival in Framingham, Mass. and picked up a Greene County map or just checked out photos from last year’s festival. Grey Fox at IBMA

Mary Tyler Doub approaches the lectern to introduce Roger Brown, IBMA’s keynote speaker. Grey Fox was well-represented at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass, held in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 29-Oct. 5. Again nominated for Bluegrass Event of the Year, the folks from Grey Fox were the first on their feet to applaud the Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival, which celebrated its 30th and final season this year.
