Banjo greats gather at Grey Fox 2015 for Keith-style banjo summit

DOWNLOAD FULL PRESS RELEASE Surely a highlight of this year’s Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival will be a very special Keith-Style Banjo Summit hosted by Béla Fleck and Tony Trischka. As if this “Triple Crown of Banjo” wasn’t enough, joining them on stage to honor the music and enormous influence of Bill Keith will be the award-winning Noam Pikelny, Eric Weissberg, Mike Munford, Marc Horowitz, Mike Kropp, and Ryan Cavanaugh, along with Bill Keith himself. The 90-minute Keith-style banjo gathering will be on Friday, July 17 beginning at 7:00pm at the Creekside Stage.

Grey Fox names 2014 scholarship recipients

Grey Fox has named the following people as recipients of the 2014 Bill Vernon Memorial Scholarship: Rourke Feinberg (NY) Lauren Price (OH) Leanna Price (OH) Marty Varner (CA) Also, 2007 Grey Fox Scholarship recipient, Danny Stewart Jr., of Sugar Run, PA, has been recruited by the U.S. Navy Band, Country Current. A 2011 graduate of ETSU, Danny taught individual instruction while a student and supervised several college bands. Since graduating, Danny has toured with the Larry Stevenson Band as their bassist. Danny joins Country Current in August after boot camp. We wish him all the best!

Gibson Brothers Ticket Winners Announced

How about that?? Two people from different towns, with the same last name won FRONT ROW tickets to see the Gibson Brothers Band this Saturday in Poughkeepsie. Tim Mitchell, of Peru, NY and Kate Mitchell, of Bloomingburg, NY are the lucky winners. The concert is Saturday, April 17 at 7:00pm at the Poughkeepsie Day School… presented by the Hudson Valley Bluegrass Association and sponsored in part by Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival. Hillbenders added to Grey Fox lineup

Winners of the Telluride Band Contest, the Hillbenders will perform at Grey Fox on Thursday & Friday, July 16 & 17. These five diversely influenced musicians from all over the country now make Springfield, MO their home, where they all write and arrange their unique brand of bluegrass music. Slightly reminiscent of New Grass Revival, yet extremely original, we feel Grey Fox fans will love the Hillbenders’ edgy songs and dynamic stage presence. Click to watch their videos. As mentioned in our latest newsletter, we are producing a book of great Grey Fox stories, which we’re very happy about. We plan to complete the book by the end of the year, and to make it a success, we need your help! We are looking for 70 positive stories: 5 from each of 14 different categories.
