Grey Fox wins Bluegrass Event of the Year

Grey Fox won the Bluegrass Event of the Year for July 2008 at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s awards ceremony, Thursday, Oct. 1, in Nashville, Tenn. From left, Kitsy Kuykendall, Malin Zergiebel, Producer Mary Doub, Caroline Isachsen, Mary Burdette, Rousby Quesenberry and Janet Brightly. Mary Doub accepts the award from IBMA. Also nominated were the 33rd annual Tri-State Bluegrass Festival, from Kendallville, Ind., May 2008, and the 2008 Kawaguchi International Cross-Culture Festival, Kawagachi City, Japan.

Grey Fox at IBMA

Mary Tyler Doub approaches the lectern to introduce Roger Brown, IBMA’s keynote speaker. Grey Fox was well-represented at the International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass, held in Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 29-Oct. 5. Again nominated for Bluegrass Event of the Year, the folks from Grey Fox were the first on their feet to applaud the Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival, which celebrated its 30th and final season this year. Grey Fox’s Mary Tyler Doub introduced keynote speaker Roger Brown. Mr. Brown, president of Berklee College of Music in Boston, tied the evolution of bluegrass with the development of bee-bop. Click
