The Grey Fox Way

New York State Department of Health Regulations: The NYS Department of Health Campground Permit requires that all sleeping tents and campers be placed no less than 10’ apart. We are also required to maintain a NO OPEN FLAME POLICY. Do not bring wood-flamed cooking units, campfire pits, tiki torches, luminaries, etc. Propane and charcoal cooking units are acceptable. Please adhere to these regulations.

Campers Creed

 Campers Creed

As a camper, I agree to these guidelines:

  • Campsites will be no more than 20×25 feet (allowances for RVs) – with tents & RVs at least 10 feet apart.
  • There will be no roping or taping off space for campsites. We want you to camp with your friends. Plan ahead. Come in together, or bring friends’ camping gear or easy-up with you.
  • I’ll park vehicles perpendicular to the roads to conserve space.
  • I’ll park unnecessary vehicles in the Car Corral – and free up space for picking, playing, and/or pitching a tent.
  • I’ll use camp stoves or charcoal grills for cooking (no open flames of any kind). I’ll have a fire extinguisher handy.
  • I’ll keep my campsite clean and use Trash and Recycling Barrels as intended.
  • I’ll not leave instrument strings, can tabs, etc. on the ground — this is a working hay farm.
  • I won’t use amplifiers or play loud recorded music at campsites.
  • I’ll be respectfully quiet from 10pm to 7am if camped in Quiet Camping.
  • I’ll drive only when necessary to reduce impact on the fields.
  • I’ll be considerate of fellow campers, and follow the Golden Rule.
  • I’ll report legitimate concerns for the health or safety of others to Security or Medical personnel.

  • No glass. Broken glass, barefoot children and hay farms just don’t mix.
  • No pets. Sorry, we do not allow pets at Grey Fox, but there are kennels in the area. Most kennels require up to date records, so be sure to bring documentation and food with you. Try these boarding places, and be sure to call ahead.

    • Field dress all smoking materials. No butts on the ground.

Seating & Etiquette in Concert Areas

high meadow stage
  • Seating in concert areas is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There are two High Meadow Stages:
    • The HM Daytime Stage runs from the start of music each day to the dinner break. It is a large tented venue with hundreds of seats, and additional room for lawn chairs.
    • The HM Nighttime Stage (same location as always). Bring your own seating. Guidelines below:
  • Seating at High Meadow “Under the Stars” Nighttime Stage
    • Bring your own chairs, tarps, or blankets. If you leave the concert area for a while, it’s the Grey Fox Way to share your chair/blanket until you return.
    • The area from the stage to the Sound Booth is for lawn chairs (up to 36 in) and tarps (up to 6×9 ft).
    • Please be considerate of those with lower seats than yours. Avoid blocking the view of others.
    • Beyond the Sound Booth, any type of seating is permitted (including lawn chairs with shade tops).
    • Sunbrellas may be set up around the perimeter of the High Meadow seating area. Staff can direct you.
  • For handicapped attendees, a tent is provided for the HM Nighttime Stage Area.
    • See program book for Handicapped Transportation services and telephone numbers.
    • Call ahead for a ride as it takes time for our volunteers to reach you.
  • Creekside Stage is tented and has about 300 chairs.
  • For Catskill, Slow Jam, Grass Roots, and Family stages, provide your own seating.
  • When you leave, take trash & recycling with you.
  • Last but not least, during any performance, please refrain from talking. Others are trying to hear and enjoy the music.
