Country GongBang (Thu/Fri/Sat)

Make welcome the South Korean bluegrass band, Country GongBang, who show that bluegrass music continues to be loved around the world. Winners of the 2023 IBMA International Band Performance Grant, this young group is making its debut at Grey Fox. Their name means “Country Atelier.” An atelier is an artist / designer’s workshop or studio. John Lawless of Bluegrass Today lets us know that the name is also inspired by a popular Korean trend of filming students practicing music or studying. 

 The quintet plays contemporary bluegrass with a Korean twist, singing in both English and Korean. They have gained international fans through YouTube and other online platforms and have played at IBMA World of Bluegrass, as well as festivals in France and Japan. No strangers to IBMA, they were selected as a Bluegrass Ramble Showcase Artist in 2020. Their performance at the IBMA Virtual World of Bluegrass created a buzz and helped earn them the 2023 grant, which provides assistance for their 2024 U.S. tour. We are thrilled to have them as Grey Fox Emerging Artists.
