The Darrell Scott String Band delivers a commanding, roots driven sound blending bluegrass, folk, and modern Americana with a mix of raw roots power, storytelling depth, and instrumental virtuosity.

Led by acclaimed singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Darrell Scott, the ensemble brings together a world class lineup of acoustic musicians whose collective artistry elevates Scott’s evocative songs into something both timeless and boldly present. Scott’s songs have been recorded by a multitude of artists such as The Chicks, Garth Brooks, Patty Loveless, and Keb’ Mo’. A prolific collaborator and producer, Scott’s musical contributions span hundreds of recordings across Country, Folk, and Americana including tours with Guy Clark, Robert Plant, Steve Earle, and the Zac Brown Band. In 2025, Scott was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association, recognizing his enduring impact on American roots music.

The String Band features Grammy winning Dobro master Rob Ickes, one of the most decorated instrumentalists in bluegrass. A founding member of Blue Highway and an in-demand collaborator, Ickes brings unmatched tone and technical brilliance to the group. His work has garnered multiple Grammy nominations including a 2025 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album for his collaboration with Taj Mahal. Ickes has performed and recorded with music icons such as Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson, Merle Haggard, Dolly Parton, Jerry Douglas, Alison Krauss, and David Grisman.

Anchoring the low end is Bryn Davies, a powerhouse bassist and vocalist whose rock solid groove, rich bass textures, and harmony vocals provide both drive and subtlety. Davies has toured with artists including Peter Rowan, Tony Rice, Patty Griffin, Jack White, Justin Townes Earle, Jim Lauderdale, and Guy Clark.

Mandolin and banjo virtuoso Matt Flinner adds precision, invention, and compositional depth. Widely regarded as one of the premier mandolinists in modern acoustic music, Flinner has performed and recorded with Tim O’Brien, Alison Brown, Steve Martin,The Modern Mandolin Quartet, Leftover Salmon, Darol Anger, Todd Phillips, and David Grier. 

On fiddle and harmony vocals, Shad Cobb brings a soulful, old-time rooted intensity marked by fiery bow work and deep traditional feel. Cobb’s career includes performances and projects with The Osborne Brothers, John Cowan, Tim O’Brien, Billy Strings, John Prine, Willie Nelson, and Nanci Griffith.
