John, Trish & Quickstep (Thu/Fri/Sat)

John, Trish & Quickstep: Fiddle tunes, folksongs and fancy footwork will be featured from this lively ensemble – John Kirk is the primary vocalist and instrumental wizard on fiddle mandolin & more, Trish Miller plays banjo, guitar and provides fancy footwork with percussive dance steps. They both call dances and deliver a driving dance band featuring Jon Simmons & John Kirk on harmony fiddles, Dave Lawlor picking the mandolin, Trish playing guitar, David Kiphuth playing the banjo and Greg Anderson on bass.  Together, this group has provided family dances and clogging workshops for over a generation at the festival. They are carrying a legacy with the band ‘Fiddlestyx’ that played in festival activities for many years. Old time music is the basis for their repertoire, and they like to mix it up with Celtic tunes, a rag, early country songs, originals, humorous selections and clog dance step instruction. Bring your water bottle and comfortable shoes to join the fun and meet some new friends. John, Trish and Sara Milonovich will also be offering tunes and songs of Upstate New York at the Grassroots stage on Thursday afternoon, genuine local roots and branches.
