In the true folk tradition, Mike & Ruthy have never been afraid to say what’s on their minds, and we can’t wait to have them back at Grey Fox. Described as American trailblazers, the husband-wife duo of Mike Merenda (guitar, banjo, vocals) and Ruth Ungar (fiddle, ukulele, vocals) lead The Mammals, a quintet that effortlessly spans the horizons of Americana, from soulfully harmonized indie-folk ballads to zealous fiddle and banjo-driven foot stompers. Ruth’s dad is Jay Ungar, writer of the famed melody “Ashokan Farewell,” which the group also performs. Meanwhile, these gentle-mannered activists come with a catalog of well-crafted songs that question politicians and raise issues to probe how we can improve the planet. The Mammals bring it all to the stage with passion and joy. Come celebrate with them!
