The Dirty Grass Players (Fri)
2024 Lineup | Past Years: 2023 Lineup | 2022 Lineup | 2019 Lineup
This Baltimore-based quartet has one toe-tappin’ foot in traditional bluegrass while pushing boundaries with their blazing harmonies and musicianship. They started touring regionally & nationally in 2017 after winning the band competition at the Charm City Bluegrass Festival. Since then they have played festivals from the Charleston Bluegrass Festival, Floyd Fest, Grey Fox, Bristol Rhythm and Roots, Cheat Festival, Delfest, 4848, and Palisades Bluegrass Festival among countless others.
The break from touring during the pandemic allowed them time to write some new music and come back stronger with an even more refined performance. Comprised of Connor Murray on Bass, Alex Berman on Banjo, Ben Kolakowski with the guitar, and Ryan Rogers on mandolin, this four-piece is traveling the country and successfully bringing their growing fanbase a down & dirty performance. Their ability to seamlessly transition from down-home bluegrass to spirited improvisation will quickly make you understand what they mean by Dirty Grass!
Arguably the surprise breakthrough performance of the weekend belonged to Baltimore-based jamgrass upstarts The Dirty Grass Players. … this quartet lived up to their name, delivering a blistering set of psychedelia-fueled newgrass that focused mostly on original material from their 2017 eponymous debut album and upcoming studio LP … along with a small handful of choice covers.”
