The Faux Paws (Sat)

New this year to Grey Fox, The Faux Paws defy standard genre labels with their diverse musical style, blending raging fiddle tunes, saxophone solos, and unrequited love songs. The trio’s infectious groove and feel-good folk music have evolved over a decade of playing together, creating a sound that transcends stylistic boundaries. Brothers Andrew (guitar) and Noah VanNorstrand (fiddle), known from the band Great Bear, are joined by Chris Miller (banjo, dobro, saxophone, and others), who also performs with the Grammy-nominated group The Revelers. Their debut album, “The Faux Paws,” showcases their bi-coastal journey, drawing from varied influences like contra dance, bluegrass, jazz, and pop. Ten years in the making, the album is a joyful collection rooted in the raw humanity of folk traditions.
